Making Picture Books

This book follows the process of making a picture book from the first idea, through the writing and rewriting to illustration and its challenges and then the production. There are lots of comments from some of Australia's best known writers and illustrators.

Review:
...the text...an acme of clarity and purpose and it leaves the reader with much to ponder...it offers teenagers and adult readers alike comprehensive insights into the creation of picture books and a basis for the finer appreciation of any picture book they may read thereafter. Kevin Steinberger, Magpies

Writing Hannah: On writing for Children

The notebooks and diaries I kept while writing Hannah and the Tomorrow Room have now been transformed into a study of the process of writing that novel. There is also additional comment on writing in general and specific references to other novels and picture books.

Review:
'· this intimate and honest insight into how one author worked on a particular novel that gives the book its candid warmth and makes it stand out from others in the field.' Moira Robinson, Magpies
